small river of upper Italy in Venetia, which unites with the Cagnano at Treviso; hence D. alludes to Treviso as the place dove Sile e Cagnan s'accompagna, [Par. ix. 49]; the two rivers are mentioned together to indicate Treviso, Conv. IV. xiv. 12. [Cagnano: Trevigi.]
