Commentary Par XXXIII 127

This is the final use of this word, whether as an abstract noun meaning 'concept' or 'conceiving' or a transitive verb (to conceive [an idea -- see [Inf XII 13] for the first and only use of the verb to mean 'to conceive offspring,' although there is more than an overtone of that sense here]).  There have been twelve previous uses of the noun or of the verb ([Inf XXVI 73], [Inf XXXII 4]; [Par III 60], [Par XV 41], [Par XVIII 86], [Par XIX 12], [Par XXII 33], [Par XXIV 60], [Par XXIX 81], [Par XXIX 132], [Par XXXIII 68] and [Par XXXIII 122]), which has more uses in this canto than in any other (three).  See C.Par.XV.40-42.  See also Ledda (Ledd.2002.1), pp. 316-19.
