Commentary Par IV 33

The souls in Plato's Timaeus are said to remain longer periods in their stars in accord with their greater goodness (for the text, see Campi's commentary [DDP Campi.Par.IV.28-33]), a bit of doctrine slapped aside in this single verse.  The slap also hits the cheek of Dante himself: see the text of Convivio (Conv.IV.xxi.2, cited in C.Par.IV.25, above).
