Commentary Inf III 5-6

The three attributes of the Christian God, Power, Wisdom, and Love, are nearly universally recognized as informing these two verses. Hell is of God's making, not an independent 'city' of rebels, but a totally dependent polis of those who had rebelled against their maker.
